I started this blog with the original intention of running the Marathon to Marathon. Since then, my mother-in-law told me about a race in my hometown called Marathoning for Miracles. While I so had my heart set on running a marathon in Marathon, TX (not too corny right??) I have decided to run the Miracle one on November 3rd instead.
It is for a good cause: Children’s Miracle Network (a very worthwhile organization )
It is in my hometown: No hotel, only an hour and a half from where I live now
My family can be there to support me
It is a more interesting course
It is 2 weeks later: More time to train and cooler weather
For all these reasons, it just makes sense for me to run the November 3rd race. I am especially glad because it will allow me to run the 20 miler race as part of my training. I have been dreading the really long training runs, not because I don’t think I can do them…my body can do what my mind tells it to…I am just not looking forward to being alone with my own thoughts for that long! This way, I will have the distractions of the race and the motivation of the competition to keep me going.
